Try this eye healthy Sangria recipe from Ita Buttrose & Vanessa Jones’ Macular Degeneration Cookbook: Eating For Eye Health.

Serves 4

  • 1 cup (8 fl. oz.) orange juice
  • 1/2 cup (4 fl. oz.) lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 bottle light-bodied red wine (24 fl. oz.), well chilled
  • 1/2 orange sliced
  • 1/2 ripe green apple, sliced

In a medium saucepan, bring the orange juice, lemon juice, and sugar to simmer for 3 minutes. Stir until the sugar is dissolved, then allow to cool. Pour the red wine into a large jug or bowl; add the cooled juices, sliced fruit, and some ice cubes. Serve in chilled glasses.
